9:20am -10:10am: Determining the Level of Integration- Shallow Integration Versus Deep

David Musci, Director of Cloud Engineering, Hitachi Vantara

When you move an application from on-premise to the cloud, there are two ways you can migrate your application—a shallow cloud integration, also known as, ‘Lift and Shift’ or a deep cloud integration.

In this session attendees, will learn which approach best suits their environment.

10:10am -10:40am: Refreshment Break

10:40am-11:30am: Single Cloud Provider Versus Multiple Cloud Providers

Michael Rymkiewicz, Vice President, Dito

When migrating your applications to the cloud, leveraging a single cloud provider is relatively simple, however, the challenge is vendor lock in. Leveraging multiple cloud providers may help you avoid vendor lock-in, however, it can get more complicated as there are several different models for leveraging a multitude of providers.

Pros and cons of different approaches will be discussed as well as the different models.

2:00pm – 2:50pm: Cloud Migration Could Be Your Dress Rehearsal for IT Disaster Recovery

Marc Kreppel, Area Manager, Zerto

Day-to-day threats can destroy data and ruin a business. That’s why it is critical for all businesses to have a current, active disaster recovery (DR) plan. If you’ve completed a cloud migration project, perhaps it was your dress rehearsal and your chance to see how well prepared you really are.

In this session, attendees will learn to adapt their BC/DR plans to support Cloud Migration.

Areas that will be covered include:

  • Server operations failover and failback
  • Production application-specific operations failover and failback
  • Production database operations failover and failback
  • Production workload failover and failback
  • Workload onboarding into public cloud
  • Software and data dependency discovery and mapping
  • Critical path analysis of recovery and continuity workflows
  • Production data consistency and integrity assurance
  • WAN throughput and latency optimization

3:20pm-4:10pm: Best Practices for Designing the Securing of Your Cloud Infrastructure

Ryan F. O’Halloran, Chief Technology Officer, Access One, Inc.

As enterprises move their applications and data to the cloud, executives increasingly face the task of balancing the benefits of productivity gains against significant concerns about compliance and security.

Security in the cloud is not the same as security in the corporate data center. Different rules and thinking apply when securing an infrastructure over which one has no real physical control.

Areas that will be covered include:

  • End-to-End Encryption for Data in Transition and Data at Reset
  • Ongoing vulnerability testing
  • Defined and enforced data deletion policy
  • Protective levels with user-level data security
  • VPC and VPN
  • Compliance certifications
